Hall High School district voters, facing a question of whether to build a new school for $32 million, are not the only voters in Bureau County who will have referendum decisions to make on the ballot this spring.
All rural residents, as well as Cherry fire district voters and Tiskilwa voters, have questions to answer, andSpring Valleyvoters will have a second issue: whether to replace a 49-year-old fire truck.
The proposed question phrasing for the ballots was as follows, according to the Bureau County clerk’s office.
Q. The county board ofBureauCountyorders the submission of the following proposition to the voters residing in an unincorporated areas ofBureauCountyat the consolidated election to be held on April 9, 2013, for the purpose of voting for or against the aggregation program:
Q. Shall Bureau County have the authority to arrange for the supply of electricity for its rural residential and small commercial retail customers who have not opted out of such program?
Q. Shall the board of education of Hall Township High School District Number 502,Bureau County,Illinois, build and equip a new high school building, improve the site thereof, demolish all or a portion of the existing school building and issue bonds of said school district to the amount of $32,000,000 for the purpose of paying the costs thereof?
Q. Shall Division 112 of the Illinois Municipal Code permitting municipalities to levy a flood control tax on all taxable property to build, raise, strengthen or repair the levees around the municipality at a rate not to exceed .1666 annually, and for a period not to exceed 7 years be adopted by the Village of Tiskilwa?
Q. Shall the City of Spring Valley, Bureau County, Illinois finance the acquisition of a fire engine/pumper, including related equipment and costs, and issue its bonds up to the amount of $550,000 for the purpose of paying the cost thereof?
Q. Shall the Cherry Fire Protection District, Bureau County, Illinois build and equip a new fire station and improve the site thereof and issue its bonds in the amount of $100,000 for the purpose of paying the costs thereof?
