2/25/2013 9:51:00 AM Letters to the editor: Concert was great but where were the school boards?
This is for all the school board members in any of the local schools. Feb. 14 2013 my wife and I went to a band festival at L-P and it was great. The band teachers, Christine Adelmann, Amber Backus, Chris Drag, Jackie Fischer, Phillip Whaley and Kyle Adelmann, did a great job with the band students and we should all be proud of them. The band teachers in the lower grades start them off and the high school fine-tunes them. I am also proud of my granddaughter Aaliyah on her playing. The school board members should come to these events and see how hard the teachers and the students work. My wife and I have seen our three children from start to finish in Mendota. Now we have seen our two grandsons from start to finish in the L-P area. We now have two granddaughters in the system and hope to see them finish at L-P. So please you school board members: Go to these concerts that our kids and grandkids take part in and the teachers work so hard to produce. Larry Hilmes, Mendota

Thank you for voicing your appreciation of the finer arts. Many in the community support the benefits of art, music, and dance, as these nourish the peace and love that resides within the human heart and brain. Running for school board seats may be a solution to raise the awareness of the importance of these activities. The current school board, in mono-vision, does not serve the entire community. Why? To grow the community to full health, the leadership needs to broaden its view and regard for all.
