Open Forum: America needs Mitt Romney in White House

With less than a month to election day, many of us are solidifying our presidential preference, and, in doing so, I ask that we all briefly cast aside Party labels to look at what we, as Americans who want what’s best for our country, have to choose from.
President Obama was swept into the presidency on an inspirational message a “change,” and considering the economic woes of 2008, I don’t know many people who’d argue that the U.S. didn’t need a change from the path we were on. President Obama promised to fix his nation by being this changing force, even going as far as saying that if he didn’t fix the economy in three years, there would be a “one term proposition.” Where are we three years later? America’s AAA credit rating was downgraded for the first time in history, a 7.8 percent unemployment rate became 43 months of unemployment above 8 percent, which President Obama promised to be around 5.5 percent by now, and $6 trillion has been added to the national debt, even though candidate Obama said doing so was immoral.
Additionally, President Obama hiked taxes on the middle class via Obamacare (after promising he wouldn’t), our budget deficit has surpassed $1 trillion (after he promised to cut it in half), the price of gas has increased from $1.81 to $3.92, the cost of healthcare has skyrocketed, and the cost of a college education is at an all time high. I could continue, but these facts alone prove that President Obama has not changed anything for the better. I’ve met several people, however, that justify their support for President Obama’s reelection because he’s “tried.” Has he tried? Yes. But are we, as a nation, so willing to settle for a president who has tried, regardless of the results? I hope not. We need a president who will not only try, but a president who will do — a president with a proven record of change. As governor, Mitt Romney balanced Massachusetts’ budget without raising taxes or borrowing money, eliminated political gridlock by working with a Democrat-controlled state Legislature, turned a $3 billion deficit into a $1 billion surplus with a $2 billion rainy day fund, and reduced unemployment from 5.6 percent to 4.7percent, among many other achievements. This man knows what it takes to create jobs and fix an economy.
You, I, and our economy need and deserve President Mitt Romney.
Max Halm,
La Salle

Yes, the fact that he is WAY behind in his own state says so much. In reality he could not have won the governorship in Massachusetts. That is very telling about his image and weakness'.

Ronny, give Max a break. He is oblivious to the fact that McCain advisor Nicole Wallace didn't vote because she realized that Ms. Palin was a stunad.

Regarding Romney's record as Governor, what is in this letter is only propoganda as he raised "fees" so high people had trouble paying them and did not balance their budget. If he was such a great Governor, why is he so far behind in the polls of his "home state" and why did he not run for re-election? The citizens of Mass. know more about him than we do and he will not win his own state.

There are a whole bunch of things that trouble me about this election, I mean really trouble me.
I am an old man, old by any measure. I have just about lived my biblecal life span and I must say that I have had the oppertunity to witness quite a few elections. With out a doubt, this is the strangest, longest most dishonest of them all.
The financeing of this one, wow, what does one say. The money spent on this one would put thousands of unemployed to work for a decade or more, Feed the starving of a dozen third world countries and put them on their feet.
Think about this, I do. If one man, eorth several billion can give trough pac's ten, twenty or more million dollars to get some one elected, why would not that same person slow the growth and proffitsof several of his, or her buissneses to the tune of ,OH say fifty million bucks,
What is the differance how one buys a huge tax break or deduction? Bottom line it comes back with interest.
I could not do that, most here could not do that.
Most want a tax break, would say no taxes would be fine, but would they.
Most here would say that we should send more troops to Afgan. Iran, Syria, and Eygept, just not me or mine. Send some one else.
In this elec. cycle, truth does not matter. Make it up as you go along, change it as needed, tell them what they want to hear.
Teachers are bad, Unions are bad, SS, bad cut it as it won't be here for me anyway. Medicare., bad, it's breaking the counntry and I cant get to see my doctor when I want becaus of all the poor people they see so put a stop to medicace and medicaid, but I am a good christian because I want R v W repealed and I only want birth control for me or my wife, the rest of you, abst.
You know, before R v W ther were no abortions.
The women had kids and the men worked, drank and gambled while the ladies took care of the house, washed clothes, raised kids, cooked meals and warmed my bed., What more do they want.
Lets bring that back, you know, men are boss and there is no rape and if a women gets preg well then she wanted it and she has to raise it, I just wanted a little fun, not my problem.
Wow enough already. We know none of this is true, it's all the fault of a halfbreed Pres. who just forgot his place and you will show him what his place is. Right Max?

You know Max you are like so many others that thought all the president had to do was snap his fingers and everything would be alright. This country was messed up way before Obama got in. And it will still be messed up when the next President is out of office. It is going to take years to turn this mess around. Blame the Rep. & Dem. for not working together. Nothing will ever get done while they fight each other like little high school kids.
