Letters to the editor: Heritage Health committed to quality care for residents

In light of the recently published editorials and news article, it is important to understand that because of the nature of our business, further discussion on a specific resident’s care would violate the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations. Heritage Health protects the privacy of our residents and will not discuss aspects of their care.
We take comments regarding the care administered in our homes from residents, families and community members very seriously. Our top priority, as always, is to remain committed to our residents and their families. We strive to ensure the safety and well-being of each resident under our care.
Any findings or feedback from State of Illinois surveyors are also taken very seriously by our entire staff. While survey findings were not disputed, facility documentation indicates a plan of correction was put into place immediately with evidence of compliance. Heritage Health employees worked with surveyors to enact an immediate plan of correction to maintain our levels of high-quality care.
It is also important to understand that each resident is unique, many with multiple diagnoses and medications. Documentation on each of our residents illustrates the complexities of care within a nursing facility.
We value our reputation as a community member and caregiving organization in La Salle-Peru since 1965. Our services are vital to aging members of this community. Results on returned family satisfaction surveys for Heritage Health in Peru in 2012 indicated a 90 percent “Would Recommend” rating (Strongly Agree or Agree). This home has maintained a fine reputation for resident care and continues to do so.
Since 1963, Heritage Enterprises has offered quality, compassionate care for Illinois seniors. We are dedicated to continual improvement and education, and strive for effective communication and collaboration. We welcome you to visit us at to learn more about our long history of excellence, extensive services, facilities, leadership team, and communication programs. We also welcome you to review resident testimonials, also found online for your convenience.

Melissa A. Beaver, spokesperson/director of marketing and communications, Heritage Enterprises
