Letters to the editor: L-P board incumbents deserve voters' support

My name is Dr. Pete Meier and I have served on the L-P High School Board of Education for the past two years.
I am writing to urge our community to support current board members Jim Quesse, Rosie Lynch, Al Cherpeske and Rick Sipovic in the coming election. They have earned my respect by working tirelessly to achieve one goal-to make L-P the best high school it can be. The tax rate has been kept low, a strategic plan (drawn up with tremendous community input) has been implemented and a new sports facility will be built. They are opposed by Mr. Dennis O’Keefe, a man who appears to have no plan for our school, other than to vent his seething anger about coaching changes made over a year ago.
Our board’s first priority in making coaching decisions was, and always will be, the health, safety and welfare of our students. I don’t think vindictiveness or anger can contribute to the function of our board of education and you need only read the candidates forum in the Feb. 28 NewsTribune to realize that’s all Mr. O’Keefe has to offer. Our kids deserve better. Thank you for your consideration.
Pete Meier,
Peru
