9/13/2013 12:11:00 PM Letters to the editor: It's Hunger Awareness Month
Hunger is a condition of poverty. Living below the poverty line puts a tremendous strain on a household budget, affecting the ability to purchase a nutritionally adequate diet, let alone keep food on the table. Different ideas for donating: Donate a grocery gift card, give up a treat like something from a vending machine (latte, or snack) then donate the money, save your change for a week, donate money instead of birthday or Christmas exchanges, or “In Memory Of” or “In Honor of” someone. Thirty-one years, the surrounding communities have kept the Illinois Valley Food Pantry operating. This time of year is crucial for us. Our cash funds are very low. The Illinois Valley Food Pantry truly appreciates any and all support. Please consider donating to our pantry. Our mailing address is: Illinois Valley Food Pantry, 136 Marquette St., LaSalle, or phone (815)224-3658. We appreciate your kindness. Donna Hess, executive director, Illinois Valley Food Pantry
