3/30/2013 8:23:00 AM Letters to the editor: Voters asked to support Bonucci, Goetz
One of the highlights of my service in the office of La Salle County Superintendent of Schools is the opportunity to watch Illinois Valley Community College grow in stature as an institution of higher education providing an ever increasing number and variety of educational opportunities to our local students. This trend certainly continues today with the development of the Community Technology Center now under construction. The growth of IVCC is made possible by the very able leadership of President Jerry Corcoran and the IVCC Board of Trustees. Fortunately, the quality of the Board of Trustees can be maintained by supporting two outstanding candidates for the two open Trustee positions on April 9 — Laurie Bonucci and Jane Goetz — who are running as a team on the same ticket. Both have very strong records of community service and passion for bettering our community. Laurie Bonucci resides in Princeton on the west side of the IVCC District. She and her husband, Steve, have four children. As Chair of the Princeton Library Board of Directors, Laurie led the effort to raise the $2.7 million needed to convert an empty grocery store into a new state of the art library. Laurie has also served as a member of the Bureau County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and as president of her local school Parent Teacher Organization. A resident of rural Ottawa on the east side of the IVCC District, Jane Goetz, and her husband, Keith, have three children. Jane has nearly 30 years of service as a teacher and principal and is a current member of the IVCC Foundation Board of Directors. She has served as president of the Ottawa Sunrise Rotary Club and currently chairs the OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors. Both Laurie Bonucci and Jane Goetz have pledged to balance the difficult budget decisions now facing IVCC with the need to preserve IVCC’s invaluable educational programs. Both Laurie and Jane have my support on Election Day — April 9. Christopher Dvorak, La Salle County Superintendent of Schools
