DNR roundup of hunting permits and licenses

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources provided the latest information on hunting permits and licenses.

  • Firearm deer permits: Applications for firearm and muzzleloader permits will be accepted through Sept. 8 for random daily drawings. Check Hunters can check status of their applications in the first and second lottery drawings at
  • Resident archery deer and fall turkey permits:  Resident combination archery deer permits, resident antlerless-only archery deer permits, and resident archery fall turkey hunting permits are available over-the-counter from DNR license and permit vendors.
  • Non-resident deer and turkey permits: Remaining non-resident 2014 Illinois combination archery deer permits, non-resident antlerless-only archery deer permits, and non-resident archery fall turkey permits are available from DNR license and permit vendors.
  • Youth deer permits:  Resident and non-resident youth firearm deer permits are available from DNR license and permit vendors. Youth deer hunt is Oct 11-13.
  • Public duck and goose hunting are permits: Resident hunters may apply online through Sept. 9 for the second lottery for the public duck and goose hunting area permit program. The second lottery is for those unsuccessful applicants from the first lottery, residents who didn’t apply in the first lottery, and non-residents. The third lottery deadline will be Sept. 23.   • Controlled pheasant permits: Hunters can apply online for 2014-15 controlled pheasant hunting opportunities available at 20 DNR sites. Sixteen sites are operated by the DNR and four are managed by concessionaire T. Miller Inc. Check or
