Catfish tournaments continue all summer in the Illinois River valley, with some counting toward Illinois Valley Catfish Trail series points championship competition.
The Maria’s Archway Tap Catfish Tournament June 14 wasn’t for points on the Illinois Valley circuit, but did have a nice payout, after entry fees of $60 per team, with up to three anglers in each boat. The weigh-in was at the Peru Sportsman’s Club on the south side of the river.
As for the catfish trail, the standings after the first two events are as follows.
1. Bryan Espy and Ken Luttrell
2. Shawn Kelly and Ray Eutis
3. Bubba Smith and Greg Newton
4. Mike Actis and John Dalzot
5. Joe Dyer and Gary Gross
6. Mike Crickman and Buck Emmerling
Kelly and Eutis won the second points-series competition, the Ottawa Moose tournament, reeling in 29.33 pounds of catfish; followed by Molly and John Dalzot (28.25 lbs) and Espy and Luttrell (27.87).
The next points tournament is the Valley Bar and Grill tournament at 6 a.m. July 13.
The next tournament will be June 27, Big V’s (Ryan Vecchia) tourney, Spring Valley.
