GRAND RIDGE — La Salle Lake opens at 6 a.m. Saturday for the fishing season, but it won’t be open for boats right away.
Anglers couldn’t get a boat onto the lake if they tried, said Illinois Conservation Police Sgt. Robert “Hank” Frazier.
The boat ramp is closed because the ramp, the docks and the cove they are in all are iced in.
While the lake, a cooling lake for the nuclear power plant, is ice-free and fishable from the bank because of the warm-water source, there’s up to 10 inches of ice in the cove near the parking area, Frazier said.
The lake is not open on Mondays and Tuesdays.
When the ice goes out, the ramp can open.
