Joseph Karkless, 77, of Streator, formerly of Oglesby, died Aug. 27, 2014, in Parker Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Streator.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator, with Monsignor Philip Halfacre, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Park, Spring Valley.
Visitation will be 10-11:20 a.m. Friday in the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Prey-Mueller Funeral Home, Oglesby.
Joseph was born Oct. 31, 1936, in Spring Valley to Antone and Josephine (Lami) Karkless. He married Karen Centko Tawney on Nov. 7, 1998, in St. Casimir Church, Streator.
He was a graduate of St. Bede Academy and worked at Owens-Illinois.Streator until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Streator and the Streator Knights of Columbus.
Survivors are his wife, Karen of Streator; a daughter, Julie Tawney of Streator; and a grandson, Brockton “Rocko” Tawney.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Anton Karkless
Memorials may be directed to St. Michael the Archangel Church in Streator.
