Joseph James Grigalonas, 91, died Aug. 2, 2014, in Simple Comfort Retirement Home, Peru.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley. The Rev. Bill Jacobsen will officiate.
Visitation will be held one hour before services Thursday in the funeral home.
Mr. Grigalonas was born Sept. 8, 1922, in Spring Valley to John and Isabelle (Paulukaites) Grigalonas. He married Carole Johnson on May 7, 1960.
Mr. Grigalonas graduated from Bradley University in 1949 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked at Westclox for more than 30 years and then at Rock Island Arsenal as an industrial engineer. He was in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the Medical Corps.
Joseph was a former 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Carole of Spring Valley; one daughter, Desiree Grigalonas of La Salle; and a grandson, Dustin Grigalonas of La Salle.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Roy; and sister, Rose Marie.
