Russell 'Buzz' Jones
Russell “Buzz” Jones, 95, of Princeton died at 10:07 a.m. July 10, 2014, in Toulon Health Care.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton with the Rev. Matt Darnell officiating.
Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Wyanet. Military rites will be performed by Wyanet Veterans of Foreign Wars 6634.
Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
Mr. Jones was born Aug. 24, 1918, in Wyanet to Harry (Ethel Bowen) Jones. He married Melva J. McCalmont on Oct. 18, 1947, in Wyanet.
Mr. Jones attended Bradley Polytechnic, Peoria, studying to be a horologist. He worked as a watchmaker and jeweler in Princeton for Pamps Jewelry and Pihl’s Jewelry for 40 years. He served in World War II, in Service CO, 136th Infantry of the 33rd Division of the U.S. Army. He served in the South Pacific, Hawaiian Islands, New Guinea, East Indies and Luzon in the Philippines. He was in the service 4½ years and was discharged October 1945.
He was a member of Wyaton Hills Golf Club, Princeton, and Indian Hills Golf Club of Tiskilwa, and First United Methodist Church, Princeton.
Survivors are two daughters, Dee Dee Sapp of Malden and Kellye (Richard) Nading of Marion; three grandsons, Corey (Erin) Sapp of Cherry, Eric W. (Julie) Sapp of Jefferson, Wis., and Drew Nading of Indianapolis, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, H. LaVern Jones.
