Robert Hurdis

Robert Allen Nels Hurdis, 73, of Princeton passed away July 6, 2014, in St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Services will be at noon Saturday in Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton.

The Rev. Wayne Anderson will officiate. Cremation will directly follow the services.
The family will receive friends 10 a.m.-noon Saturday in the funeral home.

Mr. Hurdis was born Feb. 14, 1941, in Beloit, Wis., to Robert R. and Emma J. (Olsen) Hurdis. He married Kay C. Westerberg in Clinton, Wis., on Oct. 26, 1963.

He graduated from Clinton High School in 1959, Clinton, Wis. He then graduated from Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1961.

Bob spent his lifetime as an industrial engineer in manufacturing. Bob was a life member of National Rifle Association and a member of Moose Lodge 1339 in Princeton. He loved automobiles and was a member of Wyanet Old Car Club. Bob received the Homestead Festival Mayor’s Choice Award at the 2011 Car Show for his 1934 Ford pickup.

Bob is survived by his two children Heidi (Chuck) Pumphrey of Chatham and Jason (Josie) Hurdis of Washington, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Donna (Adam) Forneris of Springfield, Wills Pumphrey of Chatham, Jessica Dickens of Springfield, Mo., Jana Hurdis of Washington, Ill., Riley Morris of Chatham, Jenni Hurdis of Washington, Ill., and Lauren Pumphrey of Chatham; one great-grandson, John Patrick Forneris; one brother, Richard (Micki) Hurdis of El Paso, Texas, and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 2010; his parents and one grandson, Braden Morris in 1995.

Memorials may be directed to Ronald McDonald House or to the family for distribution, in lieu of flowers.
