Bernice Schibrowsky, 85, formerly of Tonica and Oglesby, died at 10:20 a.m. June 15, 2014, in Heritage Health of Minonk.
A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Family Church, Oglesby. The Rev. J.A. Small will officiate. Burial will be at St. Hyacinth Cemetery, La Salle.
Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Shields Funeral Chapel, Oglesby, is in charge of arrangements.
Bernice was born Jan. 27, 1929, in La Salle to Joseph and Ann (Bravesse) Bornac. She married John Schibrowsky on Sept. 7, 1985, in Holy Family Church, Oglesby.
Bernice worked in the dietary department of St. Mary’s and Illinois Valley Community hospitals for 31 years.
She was a member of Holy Family Church and was a past president of its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of AARP. She was an IVCH Red Coat for eight years.
Survivors are two sons, Mark Sienkiewicz of Peru and John (Robin) Sienkiewicz of La Salle; two grandchildren, Sara and Rachel; three great-grandchildren, Raymo, Gio and Ian; one brother, August (Joan) Bornac of La Salle; two sisters, Elaine Chambers of Varna and Beverly (Bob) Thacher of West Virginia; a stepson, Jack (Angel) Schibrowski of Las Vegas, Nev.; one stepdaughter, Maryellen Pienta of Atlanta, Ga.; and three stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 25, 2009; one grandson, Matthew; five brothers and four sisters.
Memorials may be directed to IVCH Foundation.
