Chester Jeneski, 99, of DePue, died at 4:30 p.m. May 21, 2014, in his home, after a three-year illness. He will be joining in eternal life, his wife, Cecelia, who died in 1994.
Prayers will be at 10:40 a.m., Friday in Barto Funeral Home, DePue, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, DePue. The Rev. Kevin Creegan will officiate. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 9-10:40 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Mr. Jeneski was born Sept. 26, 1914, in Spring Valley to Katerine Siekierka. He married Cecelia Iwaszek on Oct. 2, 1937, at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in La Salle.
Mr. Jeneski had worked at New Jersey Zinc, Mobil Chemical and Bassick’s. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he also sang in the choir, and the Holy Name Society of the church. He was a member of Princeton Barber Shop Quartet. He also served in Civilian Conservation Corps in Oregon.
Mr. Jeneski loved music and he loved to sing. He also played the harmonica, ukulele, guitar and organ.   He loved playing golf and mowing his lawn on his John Deere.
Mr. Jeneski is survived by his daughters, Diane (Robert) Briggs of West Chicago and Linda (Tim) Bulak of Spring Valley; his son, Terry (Mickey) Jeneski of Glendale Heights; 10 grandchildren, Deborah, Michael, Mark, Richard, Gregory, Kevin, Keith, Autumn, Jennifer and Therese; 24 great-grandchildren; Angie, William, Robert, Brian, Michael, Stephanie, Andrea, Matthew, Cameron, Madison, Carly, Chris, Jessica, Thomas, Lillian, Camylle, Abigaile, Nathaniel, Eleanor, Samantha, Jordan, Madeline, Lauren and Alec; and five great-great-grandchildren, Kyle, Alex, Dustin, Aaron, and Lily.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Roman (wife, Ann) Jeneski; his sister Pearl (husband, Walter) Sobin and his brother, Pvt. Hubert Jeneski, who died during World War II and is buried at Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines.
