Betty Bland, 78, of Peru, formerly of DePue, died in her home at 11 a.m. May 2, 2014, surrounded by her loving daughters after a 16-month battle with ALS. 
A celebration of life service will be at a later date, with burial at DePue Cemetery. Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, is assisting the family. 
Betty was born April 2, 1936, in Dover to Alvin J. and Maude (Conant) Darrah. She married Paul Bland on April 2, 1954, in Dover.
Betty was a housewife who cared for her six daughters. She loved golfing, oil painting and spending time with family. She was a member of DePue United Church of Christ, DePue Junior Women’s Club and Spring Creek Golf Course Women’s League.
Survivors are six daughters, Pamela (Bob) Snow of Dekalb, Vicki (Dave) Pearson of Colorado Springs, Colo., Paulette Bland of Joliet, Roberta Bland of Peru, Becca Bland Olson of Peru and Keri Curtis of Peru; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Joyce Grimes of Spring Valley and Nora Jean Coon of Milwaukee, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 18, 2012; one grandson, Tyler; one brother, Joe; and two sisters, Joanne and Fran.
