Kirk D. Schwingle, 57, of Mendota died April 6, 2014, in Mendota Community Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Dale Peterson officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday in the church. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota provided the arrangements. Mr. Schwingle was born May 8, 1956, in Mendota to Duane L. and Jean (Schultz) Schwingle. He married Cathy Rinalde on Sept. 16, 1978, in St. Anne’s Church, Toluca. He graduated from Mendota High School in 1974 and graduated from Illinois Valley Community College. He was employed by Air Products and Chemicals as a driver safety trainer. He enjoyed playing golf and helping his dad with the farming and raising hogs. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Matt Schwingle of Mendota and Tim (Rachel) Schwingle of La Salle; his mother, Jean Schwingle of Mendota; two brothers, Shawn (Connie) Schwingle of Mendota and Brett Schwingle of Mendota; and three sisters, Lori (Joe) Kolodziej of La Salle, Gwen (Bill) Otterbach of Mendota and Sheri (Kevin) McConville of Mendota. He was preceded in death by his father. Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.
