Dennis J. Frederick Sr.
Dennis J. Frederick Sr., 74, of Oglesby died at 6:30 p.m. April 6, 2014, in St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria following an extended illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Shields Funeral Chapel, Oglesby, with a 10:30 a.m. Mass in Holy Family Church, Oglesby. The Rev. Gary Blake will officiate. Burial will be at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, La Salle, with full military honors conducted by La Salle-Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral chapel. There will be a wake service at 3:45 p.m. The Oglesby American Legion will meet in the funeral chapel at 5:30 p.m.
Dennis was born Jan. 21, 1940, in La Salle. He was the son of Peter M. and Marie (Krizel) Ernat. He married Kathleen Eddy on Jan. 21, 1967, in Holy Family Church.
Dennis worked at Illinois Nitrogen and later for Buzzi Unicem. He was a member of Holy Family Church, International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Oglesby American Legion and Oglesby Elks.
He loved farming and hunting with his son and grandsons. Dennis served with the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea, 1963-65.
Survivors are his wife, Kathy of Oglesby; one son, Dennis Jr. (Terrianne Graff) of Oglesby; two daughters, Marsha (Rodney) Perez of Peru and Laurie (Shaun) Dudek of Oglesby; three brothers, Vince (Muriel) Ernat of Oglesby, Peter M. Ernat of McNabb and Joe (Joanne) Ernat of Ottawa; two sisters, Marie (Roger) Conrad of Ottawa and Vicky (Doug) Washburn of Peru; seven grandchildren, Kyle and Sarah Shevlin, Eric Dudek, Justin, Olivia and Brandon Frederick and Dalton Guisti.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, James Paul, on May 13, 1969.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cops 4 Cancer or the Oglesby Ambulance Service.
Pallbearers will be Kyle and Sarah Shevlin, Eric Dudek, Justin Frederick, Howard Holcman, John Pakenham and Joe Krizel.
