Georgia L. Ryan, 76, of Casa Grande, Ariz., formerly of Dixon and Peru, died April 3, 2014, in her home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, Dixon, with the Rev. Bunyan Cocar officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Dixon.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday in the church. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home, Dixon.

She was born Feb. 7, 1938, in Dixon the daughter of William Herbert and Georgia (Pruett) Mayes. She married Michael Ryan in Dixon in November 1969.

She had worked at Dixon Home Phone Co., KSB Hospital and had been a dog groomer for many years. She also had done volunteer work at Sun West, with talking books. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.

Georgia was also the first woman elected to the Peru City Council.

Survivors are her husband; one daughter, Cindy (Dale) Beeman of Dixon; stepsons, Phil (Janelle) Ryan and Sean (Char) Ryan; six grandchildren, Lance (Barb) Larsen, Laura (Jay) Larsen, Frank Ryan, Taryn Ryan, Jacob Ryan and Jillian Ryan; four great-grandchildren, Ean and Alivia Spencer and Hailey and Breanna Larsen; one brother, William Mayes of Dixon; and three sisters, Margaret Rau and Dorothy (Lester) Hill of Dixon and Phyllis (Andy) Anderson of Paxton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Virginia Suits, Lucille Grove, Shirley Fane and Lois Reigle; and brothers David and George Mayes.

A memorial has been established to Guide Dogs for the Blind.
