Dorothy Petersen

Dorothy Rose Petersen, 87, of DePue died April 1, 2014, in Heartland Health Care Center, Henry.
Prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Barto Funeral Home, DePue, followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, DePue, with the Rev. Kevin Creegan officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home, with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m.
Dorothy was born Oct. 23, 1926, in DePue to John and Marie (Sever) Yuvan. She married Verne Petersen on Aug. 17, 1946, in St. Mary Catholic Church, DePue.
Dorothy was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She had worked at Westclox in Peru and retired from Harper- Wyman in Princeton in 1988. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She never wavered in her faith and through all the hardship she endured, her thoughts always were of others. Her positive attitude and sunny disposition were an exceptional example to her family. Her favorite pastime was to crochet and share all that she made, from scarves to blankets, she always made sure her family would stay warm.
She is survived by her husband, Verne of DePue; four daughters, Debbie Lamkin of DePue, Renee (Ben) Stiles of Cosby, Tenn., Marie (Robert) Fusinatto of St. Peters, Mo., and Denise (Christopher) Fox of Peru; two sons, Ronald (Kathleen) Petersen of Cerro Gordo and Henry (Denise) Petersen of Spring Valley; 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Henry Yuvan.
