Yolanda Gailis, 95, of Spring Valley, and lately of Simple Comfort Retirement Home, Peru, died at 9:24 a.m. March 18, 2014, in the retirement home.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Parish of The Nativity of Our Lord (Mautino Drive location). The Rev. Robert Spilman will officiate. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday in Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, as well as 9-9:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Yolanda was born June 6, 1919, in Spring Valley to Peter and Rose (Muzzarelli) Andreoni. She married Edward Gailis in Blytheville, Ark.
Yolanda worked as a legal secretary for the Perona law firm for 22 years. She was a member of the Parish of The Nativity of Our Lord (formerly St. Anthony’s) and Mother Cabrini Sodality.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty (Edward) Burkiewicz of Spring Valley; two grandchildren, Julie (Greg) Crowther and Jason (Kim Fargher) Burkiewicz; and three great-grandchildren, Kaden and Colton Crowther and Beckham Burkiewicz.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters; five brothers; a son at birth; and one great-granddaughter, Kailey Rose Crowther.
