Elizabeth “Betty” Venturi, 82, of Toluca died at 11 a.m. March 5, 2014, in Spring Valley Nursing Home. A celebration of Betty’s life will be at 10:30 a.m.- noon Saturday in Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Toluca. Cremation rites will be accorded and inurnment will be at a later date at St. Ann Catholic Cemetery, Toluca. Betty was born Sept. 23, 1931, in Ottawa, the daughter of Chester and Pauline Harcharik Prosch. She married Peter “Pete” Venturi on Aug. 25, 1952, in Toluca. Betty was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Toluca. She was an Illinois Valley Community College nursing graduate and worked as a registered nurse at St. Margaret’s Hospital, Spring Valley for a short time and at Toluca Post Office until her retirement. Her family, dogs and friends meant the world to her. She took great pleasure in cooking, taking photographs, remembering people with cards and letters and using her green thumb in her flower and vegetable gardens. She was always willing to help anyone in need and never met anyone she couldn’t visit with. She had a heart of gold that was also full of grace. Her smile was warm and beautiful. She was greatly loved and will be missed by the many whose lives she touched. Survivors are one daughter, Joan Venturi of Spring Valley; one granddaughter, Angie Venturi of Spring Valley; one brother, Doug Prosch of Wisconsin; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved Pete on May 19, 2002, an infant son and her parents. Memorials may be directed to the family for donation to Betty’s favorite charities.
