Lucille J. Easton, 90, of Peru, formerly of Oglesby, died at 7:43 a.m. Feb. 15, 2014, in Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru. A celebration of her life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Faith Assembly of God Church, Peru. The Rev. Steve Adamson will officiate. Visitat-ion will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday in the church. Shields Funeral Chapel, Oglesby, is in charge of arrangements. Lucille was born March 31, 1923, in Rockford to H. Roy and Theo (Harris) Whitaker. She married William Easton on June 14, 1946, in Oglesby Union Church. He died Aug. 29, 1985. Lucille worked as a bookkeeper for Terry Monroe Buick. She was a member of Faith Assembly of God, La Salle VFW, Oglesby American Legion, Oglesby Lady Elks and the Red Hatters. She served with the Army Air Corps in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. Survivors are one daughter, Donna (Kevin Platt) Goodrick of Granville; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; one brother, James (Catherine) Whitaker of Peru; and one sister, Mary (Bob) Deutsch of San Jacinto, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Ron in 1998; one sister and one granddaughter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.
