Virginia Chiado, 93, of Spring Valley passed away at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 18, 2014, in Heritage Manor, Peru. Private funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, with the Rev. Paul Meismer officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery. Private visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of services. Virginia was born Oct. 28, 1920, in La Salle to Steven and Rose (Geraci) Renis. She married James Chiado on July 20, 1941, in Berwyn. Virginia had worked at Westclox in Peru, Sampsel Soreng in Spring Valley and then at Bassick’s in Spring Valley until retiring. Virginia enjoyed fishing. Surviving are her daughter, Carol (David) Ochs of Spring Valley; two sons, James (Sharon) Chiado of Carmel, Ind., and Michael (Laura) Chiado of Noblesville, Ind.; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Louise Robich of Spring Valley. She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 12, 2011; two brothers, Michael and Stephen Renis; and four sisters, Helen Lewis, Catherine Talbot, Mary Maurry and Margaret Witczak.
