Herbert J. Elliott, 86, of Princeton passed away Jan. 21, 2014, in Methodist Medical Center, Peoria.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Louis Catholic Church, Princeton. The Rev. Edward Harkrader and Deacon John Murphy will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Princeton.
The family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. Sunday in Norberg Memorial Home.
Mr. Elliott was born Oct. 8, 1927, in Princeton to Herbert V. and Oletha L. (McIntyre) Elliott. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1945.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1945-46 in the Philippines as an X-ray technician. When he returned home he briefly worked for the post office and then made farming his occupation. He enjoyed beekeeping, motorcycles, especially his 1946 Indian Chief, and spending time with his family. He loved talking to everyone.
Survivors are his four children, Herb (Kathy) Elliott Jr. of Princeton, Scott (Julie) Elliott of Tiskilwa, Joan May of Princeton and Jan (James) Williams of Manlius; seven grandchildren, Nicole (Joe Blades) Elliott of Princeton, Brittany Elliott of Tiskilwa, Cody Elliott of Tiskilwa, Katie Elliott of Princeton, Karolyn Elliott of Princeton, Grace May of Princeton and Garrett Williams of Manlius; one great-grandson, Mason Elliott of Tiskilwa; the mother of his children, Betty Jo Davis; three siblings, Eugene (Mary) Elliott of Springfield, Betty Vankammen of Peru and Paul Elliott of Rock Island; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.
