Sidney “Sid” Duttlinger, 85, of La Salle passed away at 1:57 p.m. Jan. 12, 2014, in Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Hyacinth Church, La Salle. The Rev. Paul Carlson will officiate. Burial will be at St. Hyacinth Cemetery, La Salle.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in Burgess Funeral Home, La Salle, with a Scripture service at 4:45 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services in the church on Wednesday. Burgess Funeral Home in La Salle is handling the arrangements.
Mr. Duttlinger was born March 31, 1928, in La Salle to William and Frances (Jasiek) Duttlinger. He married Shirley Munson from Waltham Township on Sept. 13, 1952, in St. Hyacinth Church.

He graduated from St. Bede Academy, class of 1946, and was a member of the Golden Bedan Club.

He worked for Illinois Power for 43 years as a ground man/driver on a line crew.

He was a member to St. Hyacinth Church and was an usher for many years. He was the last surviving member in the Rover Boys of La Salle. He loved his family very much, enjoyed gardening and keeping his country, home and property in beautiful condition. He was a lifelong Bears and Notre Dame football fan. He enjoyed watching Blackhawks hockey. In his 61 years of marriage he and Shirley visited each state and stayed at least one night in each.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five sons, Jim (Linda) of La Salle, Daniel (Michele) of Woodridge, Neal (Kathy) of Lebanon, Ore., Alan (Rhonda) of Newark and Jon (Beth) of Princeville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William and Clark
His 12 grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be given to his favorite charities.
