William J. “Short Wheels” Kohr, 79, of Cherry died Jan. 5, 2014, in St. Margaret’s Hospital, Spring Valley.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Fiocchi Funeral Home, Cherry. The Rev. Patrick Fixsen of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Cherry, will officiate. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Cherry, with military honors by Ladd Veterans Memorial Group.
Visitat-ion will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Friday in the funeral home.
William was born Dec. 14, 1934, in Cherry to John and Sarah (Taggart) Kohr. He married Joyce Lamkin on Jan. 2, 1965.
He had worked as an extruder operator at Union Carbide and its subsequent owners until the plant closed in 1987. He had served in the U.S. military.
Survivors are his wife; three sons, Larry (Jewel Wallock) Kohr of La Salle, Randy (Cindy) Kohr of La Salle and William Kohr Jr. of Spring Valley; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one brother, John (Wanda) Kohr of California.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, one brother and three sisters.
Memorials may be directed to Illinois Veterans Home at La Salle or Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Cherry.
