Elaine Szymovicz

Elaine L. Szymovicz, 88, of 1543 LaHarpe St., La Salle died at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3, 2013, in Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru, after a short illness.

There will not be any visitation. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of her ashes will be at Oakwood Cemetery, La Salle. Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting the family.
She was born Sept. 22, 1925, in La Salle to Ward and Emily (Yanke) Stuart. She married Walter L. Szymovicz on July 6, 1946.

Mrs. Szymovicz worked at Westclox and then Woolworth’s in La Salle. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and La Salle VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the gambling boat.

Mrs Szymovicz is survived by two daughters, Linda (Kenny) Kinzer of Utica and Paula (Brian) Raifsnider of Peru; three sons, Gerald and John Szymovicz, both of La Salle, and Richard (Judy) Szymovicz of Dalzell; eight grandchildren, Kristen, Michael, Angela, Brian, Jennifer, Tyler, Hannah and Haley; nine great-grandchildren, Aiden, Dylan, Noah, Nolan, Maliyah, Julianna, Donovan, Riley and Gage.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996; one daughter, Carol; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter and three brothers.
