Mrs. Duncan

Barbara Eileen Duncan, 70, of Spring Valley passed peacefully in her home Dec. 2, 2013, after a 13-year battle with cancer.
Barb’s life will be celebrated 4-6 p.m. Sunday in Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley. A memorial service will be conducted at 5:45 p.m., with pastor Mike Slutz officiating. Cremation has been accorded as she wished. Her ashes will be laid to rest with her eldest daughter Nilene’s ashes at a private ceremony for family at Ladd Cemetery.
Barb was born Oct. 21, 1943, in Evansville, Ind., to Martha Vance and Lazerne Lerch. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Samuel Kosky, in Pittsburgh, Pa. She also spent several years at the home of her grandmother, Florence Vance, in Punxsutawney, Pa.
Barb enjoyed a lifetime of cooking and catering, and she shared her skill with everyone. The simple things in life brought her the most joy, especially her four-legged friend Jack, who was always by her side.
She is survived by her partner of 21 years, Jerry Kiley; her children, Ron Johnson (Tubby) of Tacoma, Wash., Rhonda Johnson of La Salle, Toni Fusinatto (Joe Pienta) of Spring Valley, Vikki (John) Ragazincky of Huntsville, Texas, Troy (Michelle) Johnson of Oglesby and Jorgeanne (Rob) Schramm of Spring Valley; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nilene Martinez; one granddaughter, Monica Martinez; and her husband, George Duncan, in 1986.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
