Barbara Pierson

Barbara Joann Pierson, 77, of Normal, formerly of Putnam, passed away Dec. 1, 2013, in Heartland Healthcare Center, Normal.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in New Hope Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Laura Tanner will officiate. Burial will follow at Elm Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Thursday in Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton.
She was born Feb. 10, 1936, in Magnolia to William and Dena (Forrest) Burr. She married Verner Pierson on Sept. 5, 1954.
She was a devoted farm wife, worked for many years at Casey’s General Store in Tiskilwa and drove the bus for Putnam County schools.
She was a member of New Hope Church of the Nazarene and spent the past five years living with her daughter in the Bloomington-Normal area.
She is survived by her two children, Ronald Pierson of Putnam and Carolyn Pierson of Normal; one sister, Beverly Single of Hummelstown, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 7, 1998.
Memorials may be directed to New Hope Church of the Nazarene or American Cancer Society.
