Dorothy Mahnich

Dorothy Louise Mahnich, 90, formerly of Spring Valley, died Nov. 19, 2013, in Presence Pine View Care Center, St. Charles.
Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Parish of the Nativity of Our Lord (Richard Mautino location). The Rev. Patrick DeMeulemeester will officiate.
There will be no visitation. Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, is assisting with the arrangements.
She was born Oct. 26, 1923, in Spring Valley to Angelo and Giovanna (Trogolo) Pricco. She married Henry Mahnich on June 22, 1946, in St. Anthony Catholic Church, Spring Valley.
She graduated from Hall High School and later worked as the secretary for the principal at Hall High School. She was a member of the former St. Anthony Catholic Church, the Mother Cabrini Sodality of the church and St. Margaret’s Hospital Auxiliary. She served as a volunteer at St. Margaret’s.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Donald) Fabian of Sugar Grove and Linda (Kenneth) Smith of South Elgin; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 1, 2004; two sisters; and one brother.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library, 215 E. Cleveland St., Spring Valley.
