Ralph R. “Butch” Rimmele, 89, of Illinois Veterans Home at La Salle, formerly of Peru, died at 3:05 p.m. Nov. 13, 2013, in St Margaret’s Hospital, Spring Valley. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Valentine Church, Peru. The Rev. Gary Blake will officiate. Peru Veterans Memorial Group will perform military rites. Cremation rites will take place after the services. Burial will be at a later date at St Vincent Cemetery, La Salle. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday in the church. Ptak Funeral Home in Peru is assisting the family with arrangements. Mr. Rimmele was born Sept. 26, 1924, in La Salle to George and Josephine (Majikowski) Rimmele. He married Marie Nemeth on June 28, 1947, in St. Constantine Church, Oglesby. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, serving in both Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. He was an aviation metalsmith. He worked at Sundstrand in shipping and receiving department until his retirement. He was a member of St. Valentine Church and Peru VFW 8232. Survivors include his wife Marie of Peru; one son, Guy (Brenda) Rimmele of Ottawa; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Vera Mathey of Peru. He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers. Memorials may be directed to Illinois Veterans Home.
