Mary K. Miller, 98, Lamar, Mo., passed away Nov. 11, 2013, in her home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Konantz Warden Funeral Home, Lamar, Mo., with Dr. Mark Turnbough officiating. Interment will be at Melugin Cemetery, Compton.
Arrangements are by Konantz-Warden Funeral Home, Lamar, Mo.
She was born May 13, 1915 to Louis and Loretta (Snip) Wolf, in Lamar. She married Dale Miller, June 11, 1943. Two children were born to this union, Ruby and Louis.
Follow-ing graduation from Lamar High School in 1933, Mary K. attended Joplin Business College and graduated from Springfield Teachers College, class of 1940, with a teaching degree. She taught in rural Barton County for three years before and then kindergarten through 12th grade in Compton and Mendota schools as well as Home-Ec.
Mary K. moved back to Lamar in 1993 and was very active in the community. She was a member of Lamar United Methodist Church, Esther Circle, Lamar Retired Teachers Association, La Salle County Retired Teachers Association, Illinois Retired Teachers Association and General Federation of Women’s Club of Illinois and Missouri.
She is survived by her son, Louis Roy Miller and wife, Sherril Kleckner Miller, of Weston, Neb.; son-in law, Francis Orval, Belgium; grandchildren, Colin P. Miller of Livermore, Calif., Rachel Miller delaTorre of Bonita Springs, Fla., Silas Dale Miller, Loraynia Kearns, Kate Hazelton, Gregory Pletcher, Corbin Pletcher, all of Nebraska; great-grandchildren, Raven Kearns, Sayer Kearns, Charles delaTorre and Lily delaTorres; extended family, Gail and Cinda Miller, Burly and Marsha Jenkins, and Billy Martin.
Mary K. was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; one daughter, Ruby Loretta Miller Orval; her parents; and one sister, Margaret Wirts.
