Warren H. Hammerich, 92, of Peru passed away Oct. 6, 2013, in Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Saturday in Mueller-Pagani Funeral Home, La Salle, with the Rev. Danira Parra officiating. Private burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, La Salle.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
Warren was born Dec. 27, 1920, in La Salle to Louis and Freda (Wolf) Hammerich. He married Thelma Jane Kuehl on Sept. 19, 1948, in La Salle.
He was a combat veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a staff sergeant during World War II, landing in Europe on the third-wave of D-Day. After serving his country, he worked as a production line foreman at Westclox for 40 years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in La Salle, VFW post 8232 and the AFL/CIO.
He is survived by one daughter, Gretchen Hammerich of Peru; one son, James (Indy) Hammerich of Brighton, Tenn.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Harriet (Sam) Nuyalis of Spring Valley.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Feb. 19, 2012; one daughter, Christine Hammerich; six brothers and four sisters.
Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
