Carl E. Finkle Jr., 80, of Earlville passed away Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, in Mendota Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Earlville United Methodist Church, with Pastor Linda Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Precinct Cemetery in rural Earlville.
Visitat-ion will be 4-7 p.m., Friday with a Ma-sonic service at 7 p.m. at Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home, Earlville.
He was born May 28, 1933, in Villisca, Iowa the son of Carl E. and Marie (Ware) Finkle Sr. He married Patricia Clark on Nov. 25, 1954, in Villisca.
He was a member of Earlville United Methodist Church, where he served as the president of Methodist Men, served on the board of trustees and taught Sunday school. He was an involved member of the Earlville Masonic Lodge, where he also served as master. He retired from Burlington Northern Railroad as a signal maintainer for more than 45 years. He served on Earlville City Council and as a volunteer firefighter for Earlville Fire District for several years. He enjoyed Bluegrass music, being outdoors and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Patricia; two daughters, Carla (Marc) Hanson and Carol (Randy) Goodbred, both of Earlville; four grandchildren, Jason (Maureen) Hanson, Brent (Michele) Hanson, Whitney and Reed Goodbred; three great-grandchildren, Zoe, Claire and Gage Hanson; two sisters, Barbara Thomas of Glenwood, Iowa, and Sharon (Gene) Goodlette of Rockford; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
