Michael Wayne Washkowiak, 53, of Granville died at 11:45 a.m. Sept. 6, 2013, in his residence surrounded by family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church on the Hill west of Hollowayville with the Revs. Kim Lee-Brown and Ann Zieghert officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
A visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in Hurst Funeral Home, La Salle and also one hour prior to the services at the church.
Mr. Washko-wiak was born Feb. 17, 1960, in Altus, Okla., to Wayne and Elizabeth “Betty” (Pyka) Washkowiak. He married Cynthia “Cindy” Lynn Kaiser in October 1984.
He graduated from La Salle-Peru Township High School in 1978 and also graduated from Illinois Valley Community College in 1999 with an associate in applied science degree in computer- aided engineering and design and an associate degree in general studies.
He was currently employed with Canam in Peru. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Granville and was an honorary member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church on the Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy; one son, Jacob (Katie) of Peru; one daughter, Michelle of Granville; his father, Wayne (Vicki) of Peru; one brother, Chris of Peru; a stepbrother, Michael Tumbleson of Kewanee; a stepsister, Shellie (Tim) Schneid of Princeton; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles and a daughter, Emily; and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Meshera at birth; his mother, Betty; sisters Melanie Beckerleg and Kathy Walter; his grandparents and uncles.
Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.
