Barbara M. (Frank) Myers, 68, of Ottawa died Aug. 29, 2013, in Cabin Livin’ Senior Residential Facility near Hennepin. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Columba Church, Ottawa, with her brother-in-law, the Most Rev. John J. Myers, Archbishop of Newark, N.J., and the Rev. David Kipfer, pastor, officiating. Cremation rites will follow according to her wishes. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday in Mueller Funeral Home, Ottawa. Barbara was born March 24, 1945, in Berwyn to Charles Harlan and Martha (Johnson) Frank. After several years as a stay-at-home mother and neighborhood babysitter, she earned her LPN and RN degrees from Illinois Valley Community College and worked for 13 years as a post-surgical nurse at Community Hospital of Ottawa. After that she enjoyed many years as a babysitting grandmother. Barb’s greatest joys in life have been raising her four kids (especially when they were young), taking care of grandkids over the years, playing the piano, listening to music of all kinds, especially Willie Nelson, walking the beach at Fort Myers Beach, going to plays and concerts in Chicago and just living in the big old house on Ottawa’s southside for 40 years. Barbara is survived by her husband, William; three sons, William Jr. (Denise), John (Traci), Timothy (Doug) and a daughter Maribeth (Phil). She dearly loved her 12 grandchildren, Shannon (Tim), Jessica, Jacob, Joshua, Jeremiah, Jordan, Andrew, Skylar, Lucas, Daniel, Amina and Otis; and a great-granddaughter, Lyla and a soon-to-arrive great-grandson, Jaxon. She also is survived by a brother Charles (Linda), and an aunt, Mrs. Ruth Johnson and two cousins, Lynn and Scott. She was loved by her three brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law from the Myers clan along with 13 nieces and nephews and all her family and friends. Barbara was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother and a loving, giving heart to all she met. She will be deeply missed by us all but she will be in each one of our hearts and souls for the rest of our lives. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family’s wishes, Alzheimer’s Association of Illinois or Cabin Livin’ Senior Care, Hennepin. The online guestbook may be viewed and remembrances shared at www.MuellerFH.com.
