Ronald “Roscoe” Reese, 84, of Peru passed away Aug. 28, 2013, in his home. Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary’s Church in Peru with the Rev. William Gardner, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Peru City Cemetery with full military rites by Peru Veterans Memorial Group. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mueller Funeral Home in Peru. Mr. Reese was born Oct. 4, 1928, in Spring Valley to Herbert and Irene (Burris) Reese. He married Norma Fusinatto on Dec. 4, 1945, in Spring Valley. He served in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific on a Naval destroyer. Ronald was maintenance supervisor for Union Carbide and J & L Steel for more than 40 years. He was a member American Legion Post 375. He is survived by his wife of Peru; two sons, Donald (Lori) Reese of Peru and Gerald (Cathy) Reese of Sandwich; 10 grandchildren, Lisa Suttles, Gretchen Quintanar, Nicole Blake, Natalie Prince, Billy Blake, Michael Reese, Katie Reese, Ryan Evans, Nick Reese and Tyler Reese; nine great-grandchildren; and one son in-law, William Blake of Murrayville. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jean “Pudge” Blake and two brothers, Wallace and Herbert Reese. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Illinois Valley Hospice.
