Wesley J. Samuelson, 91, of Princeton, formerly of Buda, died April 18, 2013, in his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church, Princeton, with the Rev. Tom Ostrander officiating. Private family burial will be at Hopeland Cemetery, Buda.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday in Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton.
Mr. Samuelson was born Aug. 21, 1921, to Henry and Ethel (Kirkpatrick) Samuelson. He married Jean Coss on Dec. 5, 1954.
He attended Iowa State University.
Wesley served in World War II as a sergeant in the Army Signal Corps from 1942-1946. He farmed near Buda for more than 50 years. During that time he served on the soil conservation board, Buda School Board and the Farm Services Association board for many years. He retired to Princeton in 2005.
He was a member of the American Legion for 65 years and was a 32nd degree Mason. He attended Princeton United Methodist Church. He enjoyed dancing, having coffee with his friends and traveling.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Craig (Debbi) Samuelson of Western Springs; one daughter, Cindy (Kevin) King of Peoria; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (in infancy) and one son, Brent John.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to his church, Buda Rescue Unit or World War II Honor Flight (honorflight.org).
