Gloria Jean Maltas, 81, of Ottawa passed away April 10, 2013, in Ottawa Pavilion.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Gladfelter Funeral Home, Ottawa, with pastor Tim Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
Gloria was born Jan. 20, 1932, in Ottawa to Albert and Sarah Elizabeth (Wilson) Giddens. She married Donald E. “Sparky” Maltas on March 4, 1949, in Ottawa.
Gloria was a member of Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church. She and her husband owned and operated Don’s Radio and Phone.
Gloria had also worked as housekeeper at Gladfelter Funeral Home as well as for the Gladfelter family. She enjoyed cleaning, collecting, gardening and square dancing. Most of all, she treasured time spent with her loving family.
She is survived by her children, Terry (Carol) Maltas of Spring Valley, Rick Maltas and Vickie of Utica and Denise (Ron) Hudkins of Ottawa; her grandchildren, Sarah (Kurt) Nichols, Luke, Blythe and Steve (Vickie) Maltas, Brad (Christine) Duff-Hudkins, Mike (Margie) and Matthew Hudkins; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 28, 1996; two brothers and five sisters.
Memorials may be directed to the NICU at Northwestern University Hospital or to the March of Dimes.
