Emily Rose Sajnaj, 94, of Peru passed away at 6:38 a.m. March 14, 2013, in Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru where she was a patient for three days. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Hyacinth Church, La Salle with the Rev. Paul Carlson officiating. Burial will be at St. Hyacinth Cemetery. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Monday in the church. Burgess Funeral Home in La Salle is in charge of arrangements. She was born Aug. 28, 1918, in La Salle into the patriarchal family of Joseph and Rose (Gunia) Krasinski. She married Edward Sajnaj on Aug. 12, 1946, in St. Valentine’s Church, Peru. He owned Sajnaj’s Buffet in Peru. Emily was very proud of her Polish heritage. She graduated from St. Hyacinth Grade School and St. Joseph Commercial High School. She worked at Westclox for many years. She was a member of St. Valentine Church, Peru. She was past member of St. Bede Mother’s Club and past president of St. Valentine Mother’s Club. She prayed the rosary every day. Being a good mother was her life ambition which became her masterpiece. Survivors include three sons, Dale Sajnaj of Peru, Don Sajnaj of Peru and David Sajnaj of Peru; and one sister, Florence Smeltz of Peru. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, on March 26, 1995; three brothers and four sisters. Online condolences may be viewed and expressed at www.burgessfh.com
