Shirley Burden



Shirley J. Burden, 78, of Princeton passed away Feb 19, 2013, in Colonial Rehab and Nursing Center, Princeton.

Memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Monday in Norberg Memorial Home, Princetno. Pastor Jack Stites will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

She was born Oct 9, 1934, in Bureau to Harold E. and Ruby A. (Decker) Steele. She married Arthur Thomas Burden.

She grew up in Bureau and  attended Hall High School. She was a cook at the Ranch House for many years.

Shirley is survived by 10 children, Kelly Burden of Davenport, Iowa, Kristie (Bob) Smith of Malden, Ann (Cecil) Altizer of Tiskilwa, Leonard (Michelle) Burden of Bureau, Linda Burden of Henry, Cindy (David) Bornsheuer of Buda, Gloria (Virgil) Deffenbaugh of Bureau, Harold (Melina) Burden of Buda, Jim (Rhonda) Burden of Granville and Kevin (Angie) Burden of Tiskilwa; 31 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Norma (John) Camp of Princeton, Janice (Dick) Klieber of Ladd, Johnny (Joyce) Steele of DePue, Kathy (John) Zarins of Wisconsin, Ronnie Steele of Spring Valley and Sharon (Jim Hurd) Steele.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 4, 1978; two sisters, three brothers and three grandchildren, Robert Smith III, Marsha Sue Altizer and Tonya Marie Hurd. Also preceding was her companion Dallas Williams.

Memorials may be directed to Colonial Hall Nursing Home.
