Mrs. Virginia M. (Balachowski) Micheli, 97, of Peru passed away Feb. 13, 2013, in Manor Court of Peru.
A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Church, Peru, with the Rev. Harold Datzman, O.S.B. officiating. Burial will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, La Salle.
Arrangements are by Mueller Funeral Home, Peru.
Virginia was born Oct. 17, 1915, in DePue to Frank A. and Pearl (Sroka) Balachowski. She married Prodie J. Micheli on July 2, 1949 in Washington, Ill.
She worked at Montgomery Ward’s in the ordering department. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Altar and Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Virginia and her husband were avid Cubs fans.
Survivors are two stepsons, Dr. Lyle (Anne) Micheli of Boston, Mass., and Thomas Micheli of Peru; two stepgrandchildren, Amanda and Lisa; one brother, Eugene (Lucille) Balachowski of Kansas City, Mo.; and three sisters, Flavia Balachowski of La Salle, Leona Gunia of La Salle and Jacqueline (John) Bottarini of Ottawa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Prodie; one brother, Lawrence Balachowski; one sister, Josephine Meyer of La Salle; and one nephew.
Memorials may be directed to St. Joseph’s Church, St. Bede Academy or to the Illinois Valley YMCA in Peru.
