Harold E. “Coby” Newhalfen, 81, of Dalzell died Jan. 31, 2013, in St. Margaret’s Hospital, Spring Valley.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Thomas More Church, Dalzell, with the Rev. Patrick Fixsen, pastor, and the Rev. Harold Datzman, O.S.B. officiating. Burial will follow at Peru City Cemetery with full military rites conducted by  Ladd American Legion Post 938. 

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Monday in the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mueller Funeral Home, Peru.

Mr. Newhalfen was born Sept. 4, 1931, in Henry to Bernard and Mary (Gray) Newhalfen. He married Betty (Orlandi) Stegen on Jan. 13, 1962, St. Thomas More Church, Dalzell.

Mr. Newhalfen served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.  He was a member of Ladd American Legion Post 938 and VFW. He retired from LTV Steel in Hennepin. 
He was a member of St. Thomas More Church where he was an active member of the Men’s Society. He was also a member of Ladd Moose Lodge, Big Blue LTV retiree and Dalzell Rod and Gun Club.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Newhalfen of Dalzell; two sisters-in-law, Gloria Orlandi and Jean Neuhalfen; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and John Neuhalfen.
Memorial donations may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.

Pallbearers will be Gary J. Orlandi, Gary L. Orlandi, Scott Orlandi, Louie Orlandi, Bob Orlandi, and Jerry Neuhalfen.
