Theresa Cokel

Theresa E. Cokel, 74, of Mendota died at 1:12 p.m. Dec. 29, 2012, in St. Anthony’s Hospital, Rockford.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Holy Cross Church, Mendota with the Rev. Geoffrey Horton officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday with a 4 p.m. rosary at Schwarz Funeral Home, Mendota.

She was born Jan. 27, 1938, in Mendota to Andrew and Mary (Stenger) Rapp. She married Robert J. Cokel on June 21, 1958, in Holy Cross Church, Mendota.

She attended Mendota High School, graduating in 1956. She worked on the label line for Del Monte and was a homemaker. She was a member of Holy Cross Church.

Mrs. Cokel is survived by one son, Bob (Patricia) Cokel II of Springfield, Ore.; four daughters, Cheryl (Alan) Ankney of Chana, Mary (Jan) Fee of Rochelle, Rose (Rowland) Klinefelter of Mendota and Cindy (Tim) Farmer of LaMoille; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Andrew Rapp of Oglesby and Francis (Frances) Rapp of Mendota.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 5, 2005; one grandson; two sisters, Joanne Dean and Mary Agnes McPherson; and her parents.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
