Raymond Glanz

Raymond E. Glanz, 89, of Peru died at 9:50 a.m. Nov. 20, 2012, in his home.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Peru City Cemetery. The Peru Veterans Memorial Group will conduct graveside services. Ptak Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

He was born October 2, 1923, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Robert and Edith Mae (Sears) Glanz. He married Margaret E. Larson Nov. 24, 1945, in Rockford. He served in the Marine Corp during WWII, serving in the Pacific Theatre.

He worked in the maintenance department for People’s Hospital, presently Illinois Valley Community Hospital, for many years. Ray also owned and operated Ray’s Carpet Cleaning in Peru. He also was the bar manager of the Peru American Legion #375 and was a member of the Peru VFW.

He is survived by one son, Bill (Ann) Glanz of Naperville and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1986 and one brother.
