Virginia Borelli



Virginia C. Borelli, 97, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Dixon, died Nov. 17, 2012, in the Views in Cedar Rapids.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Dixon, with the Rev. John Gow, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday in the church. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home in Dixon.

She was born Nov. 8, 1915, in Oglesby to John and Helen (Gorczca) Kowalczyk. She married Nildo J. Borelli on July 29, 1939, in Peru.

She had worked for Dixon Publishing for 10 years prior to her retirement. She was a former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon.

Survivors include one son, Robert (Judy) Borelli of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one daughter Barbara (Merle) Pitman of Pencil Bluff, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Robert (Julie) Borelli, Theodore (Tricia) Borelli, Bridget (Casey) Scales, Todd (Joy) Pitman, Mark (Renee) Pitman, Wendy (Jeff) Petersen, Abbey Dempsey, and Stacy (Nick) Segneri; 25 great-grandchildren Vanessa, Corbin, Owen, Amelia, Ian, Noah, Natalia, Justin, Eric, Ashley, Madeline, Anna, Eliot, Leah, Desiree, Nathanael, Korin, Preston, Hannah, Melia, Breanna, Lindsey, Isabelle, Joshua and Emily; and two brothers, Donald (Lucille) Kowalczyk and Richard Kowalczyk, both of Peru.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 21, 1968; one great-grandson, Nate Borelli; and four brothers and two sisters.
