Daniel J. “DJ” Jenkins, 89, of Princeton died Nov. 8, 2012, in Heritage Manor, La Salle.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton. The Rev. John Olinger will officiate. Burial will be at Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton, with military rites by Princeton American Legion 125.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Mr. Jenkins was born Feb. 7, 1923, in Princeton to Daniel C. and Blanche (Mitchell) Jenkins. He married Beverly J. Loney on July 24, 1952, in Princeton. She died Dec. 1, 1988.

He graduated from Princeton High School and served in the U.S. Army as private first class with the 135th Infantry, 34th Division during World War II.

He worked at Champion Pneumatic Machinery Co., Princeton for 39 years. He was a member of First Christian Church of Princeton, Princeton Elks, Princeton Moose, Princeton VFW Post 4323 and Princeton American Legion Post 125.

Survivors are one daughter, Diane (Goodwin) Toraason of Peru; one son, John (Sally) Jenkins of Peru; six grandchildren, Danny Toraason, Becky (Jesse) Griswold, Maggie Toraason, Abby Toraason, Eric Jenkins and Kyle Jenkins; one sister, Pearl Heward of Sherman; one sister-in-law, Joann York of Glendale, Ariz.; and a special friend, Clara Pease of Princeton; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Memorials may be directed to Honor Flight.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Dick DeBord and Bob Brophy.
