Welcome Race fans!
Sunday was one of those episodes where I was rooting for a non-elimination leg.
My preseason picks to win — former NFL teammates Chester and Ephraim — missed out on an early flight to Portugal because of a mistake by the travel agent. She eventually found them an itinerary that arrived at the same time with multiple plane changes.
It didn’t work out as there were several delays, and by the time Chester and Ephraim had arrived, every other team was done with the leg.
It was a very disappointing end to the episode when Phil said, “I’m sorry to tell you, you have been eliminated from the Race.”
The former NFL teammates seemed like good guys who were enjoying the Race and had a good shot to do well, so I was disappointed to see them leave.
Order of Finish
1. Nicole and Travis, married ER doctors
2. Jason and Amy, dating
3. Nicky and Kim, friends/baseball wives
4. Tim and Danny, friends
5. Brandon and Adam, friends
6. Leo and Jamal, cousins
7. Ally and Ashley, friends/NHL ice girls
8. Tim and Marie, exes (won first leg, have Express Pass)
9. Chester and Ephraim, former NFL teammates (ELIMINATED, won second leg)
Thumbs Up: To friends Tim and Danny, who the other teams refer to as “Oklahoma” for doing their own thing and not following cousins Leo and Jamal. The cousins hoped to get Tim and Danny on their flight in hopes of beating them and not their “Race wives” Ally and Ashley if it came down to it. Danny realized what they were up to, so the friends went their own way and actually ended up on a better flight.
Thumbs Down: To Marie. She’s bossy and pushy, and she gets really annoying when she views someone as getting in her way. Baseball wives Nicky and Kim made a smart move by going to an executive lounge and getting themselves first on the standby list, thus leaving Tim and Marie off the flight. Marie got all huffy about it and told them they were “dead to her.” She also said she wouldn’t give the friends the Express Pass. It looks like Marie may get a taste of her own medicine next week with someone wanting her to give up the Express Pass in exchange for information.
Best Moment: Even though I was disappointed to see them go, the best moment was Ephraim and Chester getting off the plane in Portugal. After many flights and nearly a day — maybe more — of traveling, the pair still hustled off the plane looking to get the leg started. When they saw Phil waiting for them in the airport, they said, “Uh oh, that’s not good,” and “Not really happy to see you right now Phil.” They really handled the whole situation well, never getting frustrated or angry.
Quote of the Week: At the Road Block when a teammate had to shoot an arrow at a shield, one of the guys overseeing the challenge said to Danny, “Took you long enough didn’t it,” and later, “On the battlefield you would be dead.” Hilarious.
Question of the Week: Which team should receive Tim and Marie’s extra Express Pass?
